Dr. Beug and collaborators are pursuing a project titled: “The promise of personalized cell therapy for pediatric brain cancers.” The scientific and medical community is gaining confidence, for treatments of cancer in adults, in using a patient’s immune cells to kill cancer cells. Immunotherapies have shown remarkable benefits for over 30 different types of adult cancers in the span of just 10 years. In this project, Dr. Beug and collaborators will develop a system to isolate, expand, and characterize tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes with the aim to translate the therapy for treatment of malignant brain cancer in children.
This grant is made possible through the extraordinary support of Brain Cancer Canada community fundraisers and donors.
