Glioblastoma stole her physical body from us, but in no way did it steal the impact Wendi made on our lives. Despite facing such a scary and hopeless diagnosis, Wendi Vanderlaan chose to be thankful. Through the ups and downs of her cancer journey, she faithfully committed to her journal, and every day would pen several items for which she was thankful. Towards the end of April 2020, less than three months before she passed away, Wendi reached her goal of journaling 1000 items of thanksgiving. The pages of her journal are a testimony to not only her strength and courage, but also to her strong faith in God and to her intense love for every individual involved in her life. Although Wendi was never one for the "limelight", her testimony of choosing to be thankful amidst such suffering will forever be in the spotlight of our lives.
Brain Cancer Canada is 100% volunteer based and committed to raising funds for brain cancer research. This is an organization near and dear to our hearts.
In honour of both Wendi's 54th birthday (May 4), and our first Mother's Day without her, we want to spread awareness about GBM. It's our dream and goal that one day, no family will ever again be shaken apart by this disease. We are so grateful to you for partnering alongside us in any way you can - whether that be in a monetary way, or by simply taking the time today to be thankful for something or someone in your life!
