It’s a shocking diagnosis. Every year, over 3200 Canadians find out they have brain cancer, and the vast majority of them – more than 80% – do not survive.
Brain cancers – like glioblastoma, which ended the life of Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip – are among the most fatal diseases we know.
And yet, we still know very little about how to stop them. Surgery can rarely remove all the cancer cells, and few chemotherapy drugs have proven to be effective. The last breakthrough in brain cancer treatment was 16 years ago!
It’s time to turn this ship around – and we need your help!
Brain cancer research is drastically underfunded. Despite its incredibly low survival rate, it gets less than 3% of the total funding for cancer research.
Today there are brilliant Canadian scientists working on many promising treatments, from gene therapy to robotic surgery – but they need your support to get to the finish line.
We need your contribution so that we can support more research, and get new treatments into clinical trials.
With generous support from donors like you, Brain Cancer Canada is helping bridge the gap between ground-breaking research and life-saving treatments. Your gift can speed up the research toward the next breakthrough.
Together, we can transform the lives of people diagnosed with brain cancer, one birthday at a time. Please make your gift today.
