It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the peaceful passing of Rob Cannataro, the loving husband of 25 years to Lori Verri, caring father of Bobby and Alyssa Cannataro, and little brother to Tony, Anna and Lia Cannataro as well as Angie and Connie Verri. Not only was Rob always there for his own kids, but to his nieces and nephews he never failed to treat them as his own. Rob was born on January 11, 1973 to Ernesto Cannataro and Matilda Salerno in Toronto, Canada.
Lori was the love of his life whom he would do anything for. At the age of 16 and 17, Rob and Lori’s astonishing love story began. Despite their young age, the two of them devoted themselves to each other and promised to stay through sickness and in health which they did for 32 years. Rob was a man of many gestures and showed us all what a true man was. He did whatever it took to prove his love to Lori including the surprise vow renewal in Turks and Caicos. He was the strongest, most resilient man his family knew and passed on his best traits to both of his kids who he adored unconditionally. Rob shared his love for hockey with everyone throughout his whole life but especially with his son Bobby. After many hours at the rinks, Rob coached him right until the age of 18. However, that never stopped him from spending hours of baking and doing crafts with his daughter Alyssa. He never cared what he was doing as long as he was surrounded by his family. His family was his whole world that no materialistic item could compare to. With his amazing sense of humour, he loved putting a smile on everyone’s face and left an unforgettable impression on those he met. Most importantly, Rob was strong willed which continues to inspire us everyday. Even with his last couple words at the hospital he would say “It is what it is.” Nonetheless, saying Rob was the best father and husband in the world is such an understatement as no words represent the true man he was.
Dad, you still had so much more life to live but we thank you for all that you have done for our family. You fought an unbearable battle and the suffering is now over. May you rest in peace and watch over us always. You will remain in our hearts and never be forgotten. You will live on through all the memories that will forever be cherished.
We would like to thank Sunnybrook hospital, especially Dr. Perry for supporting us through this 12 year journey.
